BioCon Valley supervises and operates two technology centers specific for life sciences (“BioIncubator”) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Young companies and start-ups find here the necessary infrastructure to realize their business ideas in the field of modern life sciences. The centers also provide a wide range of services as support.
. AgroBioTechnikum Groß Lüsewitz In addition to office and laboratory space, the AgroBioTechnikum Groß Lüsewitz also encompasses pilot plant laboratories (Technikum), a green house with approx. 1,000 sqm as well as roughly 260 ha agricultural land for field testing and a multipurpose hall. The Federal Centre for Breeding Research on Cultivated Plants (BAZ) is situated in Groß Lüsewitz, which is about 20 km east of Rostock. It is located in the proximity of the Research Institute for the Biology of Farm Animals in Dummerstorf. The AgroBioTechnikum was opened in November 2004.
. BioTechnikum Greifswald In 1996, the BioTechnikum was opened in the vicinity of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Greifswald. It offers 4,000 sqm of laboratories, well-equipped common laboratories and representative surroundings such as its own training and conference rooms. The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute “Federal Research Centre for Virus Diseases of Animals” is located on the nearby island Riems.
BioCon Valley works in close collaboration with the operators of other “Technology Centers” oriented towards bio-sciences in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
