The non-profit association „BioCon Valley Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.“(in short: BioCon Valley e.V.) was founded as an initiative of companies, researchers, local authorities and private persons in April 2001. The association bundles the interests of all committed people in the region and offers a platform for the network. Research institutions, companies, local authorities and services providers are among its over 159 members.
The goal of the association is to foster and to shape research and development in the field of life sciences in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, such as biotechnology, bio-medicine and medical technology, and to foster cooperation with other regions, especially the Baltic Sea Region.
As stated in its statutes, these goals are realized by: stimulation of impulses for basic and applied research matching of cooperation partners providing information on results in biotechnological research to its members and the public organizing national and international events on biotechnological issues
Members of the association receive special rates at events and can take advantage of key customer discounts.
